LGBT Initiatives
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth experience disproportionately high rates of substance abuse, tobacco use, depression, suicidality, and violence as compared with their straight counterparts. As such, OSAH plans to form a partnership with researchers at the University of New Mexico and a group of concerned community members, organizers, health providers, and public health advocates to begin addressing these health disparities.

Stigmatizing LGBTQ youth not only marginalize them from their homes, schools and communities, but place them at greater risk for poor health outcomes. Please join DOH and CYFD in supporting these youth to fully achieve their potential.”
